Medicare
The Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs (CHAMPVA) is health coverage for eligible spouses and dependents of veterans with disabilities and fallen veterans.
CHAMPVA coordinates with Medicare plans to help cover health care costs. While CHAMPVA is similar to TRICARE for Life, the two programs cannot be used together.
Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug plans
Medicare Advantage becomes the primary payer and is billed first. CHAMPVA pays copays and most out-of-pocket costs and covers the cost of prescription drugs.
Out-of-network savings
You’ll pay out of pocket for any out-of-network provider services. However, if you use CHAMPVA with Medicare Advantage, you can often get 75% of out-of-network costs covered.
