What Is TRICARE® for Life?

It’s a Medicare-wraparound program that covers veterans’ health care and prescription drug costs.

If you’re TRICARE-eligible and have Medicare Parts A and B, you’re automatically enrolled in TRICARE for Life (TFL), regardless of age or where you live.

Important: You won’t lose your TFL coverage if you enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan, as long as you continue to pay your Part B premium.

HealthSpring offers Medicare Advantage plans with or without prescription drug coverage are designed to complement your TFL coverage —not replace it.

More benefits
Get all the coverage of Original Medicare plus benefits that may include the Part B Giveback program;|| dental, vision and hearing services and allowances toward other available benefits.

Affordable options
Benefits may include $0 monthly premiums, $0 copays and $0 coinsurance. And some plans offer the Part B Giveback program.||

Prescription drug benefits
Medicare Prescription Drug Plans may offer greater flexibility in your pharmacy and prescription drug options.

Complementary coverage

A HealthSpring Medicare Advanatge plan pays your out-of-pocket health costs first, up to the amount covered by your specific plan. TRICARE for Life pays second, covering the remaining amounts.

Strong benefits
Get all the coverage of Original Medicare plus added benefits that may include emotional health support, dental, vision, hearing, fitness and caregiver support as well as allowances toward other benefits that may not be received through VA health care or TFL.

Affordable options
Many plans offer $0 plan premiums; $0 copays for primary care, emotional health care, telehealth services and dental benefits with most plans. Some plans also include a Part B Giveback program to help reduce your premium payment.||

Prescription drug benefits
Choose a Medicare Advantage–only plan without prescription drug benefits and continue to use your TFL coverage. Or choose a Medicare Prescription Drug plan available with drug benefits.

||For the Part B Giveback benefit, the Medicare plan you choose will reduce your monthly Part B premium based on the plan’s specific benefit amount.
