VA Health Care is the Largest
Health Network for U.S. Veterans.†

Enrolling helps fund benefits for your fellow veterans and their families.

VA health care serves the needs of most veterans, but not all qualify—and services can be limited. The good news is that the VA is funded by enrollees, so it’s important to apply.

Why Add a Medicare Advantage Plan to VA Health Care?

You could get additional benefits and greater access to care.
If you qualify, a Medicare Advantage plan can help you get care and services that VA health care doesn’t always cover. You’ll also have access to doctors and facilities beyond VA health care providers. You may be eligible to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan right away if you meet certain criteria, such as moving, retiring, losing coverage and more.

$0 benefits
Medicare Advanatge plans can start as low as $0 premiums with $0 copays, while VA health care costs vary based on priority group and service-connected conditions.

More coverage
Get all the coverage of Original Medicare plus added benefits that help close gaps in VA health care.

Added drug options
Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plan
(MAPD) coverage may provide added drug options, compared to VA drug coverage.

More options
Medicare plans may offer more provider choices and health care facilities beyond VA-covered providers and facilities.

Fewer surprises
Medicare coverage is set for the plan year, while VA health care benefits vary based on federal funding and priority groups.

Options for Veterans Who Don’t Get VA Health Care?

You may qualify to get the benefits of a Medicare Advantage plan.
While most veterans qualify for VA health care, your priority group may affect how much (if anything) you’ll have to pay toward the cost of your care. So, if you choose not to use VA health care or want additional coverage, you may be eligible to enroll in a HealthSpring Medicare Advanatge plan.

$0 and low-cost options
Just like VA and TRICARE benefits are earned through service, Medicare is earned through work history. Medicare pays Medicare Advanatge plans to deliver benefits, and some plans can offer $0 or low premiums, $0 copays on many services and a low maximum out-of-pocket (MOOP) cost.

Part B Giveback program
Many plans offer a credit toward your monthly Part B premium by reducing the premium amount deducted from your Social Security check.||

$0 copays on many drugs
Medicare Advantage plans may include a prescription drug benefit with $0 copays on many Tier 1 and Tier 2 medications.

Extra benefits at no added cost
Plan benefits vary and may include dental, vision, hearing, as well as fitness, caregiver support and more.

Special Needs Plans
Chronic Special Needs Plans (C-SNPs) serve people with chronic health conditions, such as diabetes, heart failure and certain cardiovascular conditions.

Dual Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs) cover Medicare and Medicaid benefits. You may also qualify for Extra Help with your out-of-pocket and drug costs.
